The Speed Of Sleep (2007, 2:00)
The text material I’ve contributed to this inaugural issue of “Super Sensor” comprises a variety of both unpublished and previously published texts, spanning a period of 2009-present. This is roughly the same time period in which I began publishing my audio-related writings in book form, so readers who are familiar with my previous books MicroBionic and Unofficial Release (and the forthcoming To Hear The World with New Eyes) will notice some thematic similarities with those works. I don’t intend for this collection to be a “greatest hits” or a eulogistic retrospective, but rather to make a good deal of my material more conveniently accessible than it has been.
Some of the pieces included in this folder did not originally appear in the English language, being written for the Czech-language periodicals His Voice and A2. Others were research papers written without a specific home in mind, which have languished on my hard drive until now. Lastly, many of these pieces were commissioned by, or submitted to, online journals that have ceased activity, and which might not devote server space to archiving these pieces in the near future.
In more recent years, I’ve been taking my research into areas well beyond the study of audio and sound arts. However, as will probably become clear after reading these selections, sound remains one of the most reliable exploratory tools available to me for making sense of both human activity and life in general.

Is an author, sound artist and educator. He has spent his creative life exploring the extremes of information as well as the anomalies of human consciousness and perception. His published works to date include a survey of unothodox electronic music (Micro-Bionic, 2009 & 2013) and Unofficial Release (2012). His forthcoming work, To Hear The World With New Eyes will deal with the cultural history of synesthesia and will be offered via SONM in Spain. A restlessly ‘transitional’ and uncategorizable artist, TBWB has performed, recorded, and taught in several different countries, sharing with others the joys of chaos and of the valuation of creative process over end product. With a minimum of outside assistance and with little more than a shoestring budget, he is gradually forging a path as an iconoclastic (yet insightful) creator and thinker in an otherwise conformist era.
